Which Utah Construction Trades need a Contractor License?
The Department of Commerce Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing issues contractor licenses in Utah. To obtain a license, the DOPL has partnered with the testing company ProV© to administer the exams. All Plumbing, Electrical and General contractors require applicants to take and pass a 30-hour pre-licensure course (if an applicant took the pre-licensure course before October 1st, 2019, they will not need the extra 5 hours). Specialty contractors must take and pass a 25-hour pre-licensure course. Utah allows for licensure by Endorsement.
