Louisiana Contractor Licenses

The State of Louisiana has Licensing Boards and Departments that regulate the work of individuals and businesses performing in the construction industry. The main regulatory entities issuing the licensing are Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC), State Plumbing Board of Louisiana (SPBL), Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors (LSBHI), Louisiana Department of Public Safety (DPS), Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)and Louisiana Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF).

As part of the application process, candidates must take and pass the corresponding tests and present documentation to support their application. In most cases, the board administers the examinations for the licenses or certifications within that board. The International Code Council (ICC)is responsible for administering the test for the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council (LSUCCC)certifications. The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors provides a “Business and Law” interactive educational course that is required for ALL licenses except for the Home Improvement Registration.
