Department of Energy and Environment (DE&E)

The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (ADE&E) is a cabinet-level agency in the local government; it works on the rules and regulations from the public and private administration of natural resources and protection of the state's environment.

The Arkansas DE&E protects and regulates the working practices of the laboratories and environmental activities on land, air, and water use in the state. As part of the application, candidates must follow the specific process and present documentation to support their application to get certified by the Division of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), which is responsible for processing the certification for this board.

Office of Land Resources (OLR)

The Office of Land Resources (OLR) controls actions to guarantee the preservation of Arkansas land. The Office creates, manages, and enforces state rules governing aboveground and subsurface petroleum storage tanks. The DEQ’s Solid Waste Management division works to ensure that solid waste is managed, processed, recycled, or disposed of in a way that protects the environment and complies with local, state, and federal laws. How to Get a Solid Waste License in the State of Arkansas?

  1. Meet the experience requirements:
    • Apprentice Licenses doesn’t have experience requirements
    • Journeyman: One year of experience in solid waste management or operations
    • Supervisory or Master: Two years of experience in solid waste management or operations
  2. Attend a 20 hours course of approved training
  3. Complete the Solid Waste Facility Operator License Application Form or apply online
  4. Attach the pertaining documents:

How to Become an Arkansas Underground Storage Tank Individual License Holder?

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Comply with the experience requirements:
    • Have worked in three different UST sites that demonstrate a minimum of one year of field experience (within the past three years)
  3. Apply online or fill out a hard copy application form
  4. Attach the following documents:
    • Proof of Work Experience
    • References from three facility owners or two facility owners and one previous employer if the applicant has had another employer within the past three years

Office of Air Quality (OAQ)

This office works in specific duties and numerous aspects of the local air program and federal obligations under the Clean Air Act and protects air quality to enhance public health, considering the environmental impact of expansion in economic opportunities. Also, the Office of Air Quality OAQ regulates four branches: Permits, compliance, policy and planning, and asbestos law enforcement:
