New Mexico Residential (GB-2) Contractor License

The Residential (GB-2) Contractor License allows you to do the following:

  • In residences and apartment houses accommodating not more than four family units:
    • Erect
    • Alter
    • Repair
    • Demolish
  • All work described by the GS specialty classifications.
  • Provided work is limited to residential construction as defined under this provision

How to Get the Residential (GB-2) Contractor License in New Mexico?

  1. Meet the experience requirement:
    • At least two years of documented experience in the Residential (GB-2) Contractor field.
  2. Apply for eligibility through PSI©.
  3. Send these documents via mail with the corresponding application fee to:

  4. Once the documents and the eligibility have been approved, schedule and pay for the examination.
  5. Take and pass the following examinations:
    • New Mexico Residential Building Contractor Part 1 Examination (GB-2) Trade Exam
    • New Mexico Business and Law Examination (PSI©).
  6. After passing the examination, complete the Application for Contractor License and the Construction Industries Division Contractor License Code Bond.
  7. Gather the following documents and send them by mail to PSI©: PSI©
