Volusia County Contractor Licenses
Select a license to view its requirements, definition, exams, books, and classes. If your license is not listed as Volusia County License, please select a Florida License. Applicants desiring to engage in business and receive a certificate of competency in Volusia County are required to achieve a minimum of 75% on the Business and Law exam as stated under the Code of Ordinance.
Volusia County will no longer renew or issue local licenses for masonry, prefabricated shed installation, non-electric signs, concrete, pavers, or stucco. If an applicant's license were renewed before July 1st, 2021, it would continue to be valid until September 30th, 2023. Construction Licenses in Volusia County
Carpentry
Construction of rough framing, trusses, sheathing, metal framing, paneling, trim, cabinetry, doors, windows, stairs and incidental hardware.
Concrete
Installation of concrete driveways, sidewalks, patios and miscellaneous slabs and concrete foundations designed to accept any structure when in the design of that structure, a footer is required.
Demolition
Demolish buildings or other structures or parts thereof and remove the resulting debris.
Electrical
Construction of electrical systems, fire alarm systems, and all appurtenances, equipment, and apparatus used in connection therewith in accordance with the building code.
Garage Door Installation
Installation of residential or commercial garage doors, including all hardware and operating devices.
Hurricane Shutters
Installation of exterior opening protection assemblies, including hurricane shutter assemblies and similar products to protect residential and commercial dwellings.
Journeyman Electrician
Construction of any electrical systems, fire or burglar alarm systems, and all appurtenances, apparatus, and equipment used in connection therewith.
Journeyman Mechanical
Installation of air conditioning, sheet metal, or process piping systems of any size or capacity under the supervision of an Unlimited Mechanical Contractor, Air Conditioning A, Air Conditioning B or Sheet Metal Contractor.
Journeyman Plumber
Installation of any plumbing system, including waste drains, vents, water supply and fixtures and also install, maintain or repair gas piping, appliances, lines, laterals, tanks and other appurtenances in connection therewith under the supervision of an Unlimited Master Plumbing Contractor.
Marine Construction
Construction of seawalls, bulkheads, docks, piers, wharfs, piles, boat lifts, davits, boathouses, and other marine structures.
Masonry
Installation of brick, stone, and masonry products including structural glass brick or block and insulated concrete units, placement of reinforcing steel and any concrete forming and placing incorporated into the masonry work.
Paver
Construction of proper drainage, and selecting, cutting and laying pavers.
Pre-Fabricated Shed Installer
Erection of single story metal buildings up to 500 square feet, including sitework, concrete, masonry, siding, roofing, windows and doors but not including any electrical, plumbing, gas or HVAC work.
Sign Installation (Non-Electrical)
Installation of non-electrical signs.
Stucco
Application of sand or other aggregate, gypsum, plaster, Portland cement or quick lime, and water, or any combination of such material so as to create a permanent surface coating.
Siding, Soffit, Fascia
Installation of siding, window and door installation, including vinyl, wood or aluminum siding, soffit, fascia, gutters and all types of windows and doors, as well as any work necessary to prepare or repair substrate to accomplish proper installation, but not including any structural alterations.
