The Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician - Project Monitor License allows the holder to:

  • Be employed by a Licensed Asbestos Consultant Agency to monitor compliance on behalf of the building owner, during an asbestos abatement project
  • Provide personal air monitoring and project air monitoring
  • Recommend to the asbestos consultant changes to the asbestos abatement specifications and plans
  • Assist the asbestos consultant in the development of an asbestos exposure assessment
  • Give the consultant all project documents after completion of the project
  • Cooperate with DSHS personnel during inspections and investigations

How to Get the Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician - Project Monitor License in Texas?

  1. Comply with the requirements set forth for Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician - Project Monitor:
    • Completion of the Asbestos Contractors & Supervisors and Asbestos Air Monitoring Technicians Department’s examinations - Current Calendar Dates
      • Registration will only be granted after receiving the examination fee, the registration form, a copy of valid training certificates, and any other documents
    • Records of conducting air monitoring as on at least 3 Asbestos Abatement Projects for at least 15 days while under the guidance of a Licensed Asbestos Abatement Contractor
    • High School Diploma or equivalent document
    • White-background color profile photo with 2-inch by 2-inch measurements
    • Written DSHS Physician Statement signed by a Doctor during the last 12 months
    • Attachment of ID and Certificates of Initial Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor and Asbestos Air Monitoring Training if the applicant went through these processes
    • Evidence of applicable Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor and Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician Refresher Training Certificates and IDs
  2. Determine if the Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician - Project Monitor Application is available online
