Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF)

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) administers programs that regulate the environmental impact of commercial businesses, from a farm to an industrial-level economy, through State Legislation.

Inside LDAF is the Louisiana Horticulture Commission (LHC), which regulates workers at horticultural businesses, preventing fraudulent practices and encouraging continuing education, achieving high-quality services by green industry professionals while meeting the Louisiana Laws listed in the LA State Legislature. The LDAF provides an official Agriculture & Forestry reference list for licensing certification. Therefore, the applicants must complete all the respective forms to apply for the test.

The Arborist, Landscape Horticulturist, and Landscape Irrigation Contractor Licenses are listed under the LDAF; however, the licensing process is done through the LA Horticulture Commission. If the applicant wants a reciprocal certification for pesticide, the pesticide waiver form must be completed and sent to the Department of Agriculture & Forestry.

Yard Work does not require a license because it is not regulated. This includes: cutting lawns, edging, and hand-weeding beds.
