The Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Journeyperson (F-6) License, ONLY while employed by a contractor licensed, allows you to work limited to the alteration, installation, repair, renovation, extension, removal, maintenance, or handling of materials of:

  • Multipurpose residential fire sprinkler system:
    • Involved with water based fire sprinkler systems for protection against fire hazards in:
      • One-family residential dwellings
      • Two-family residential dwellings
      • Mobile manufactured homes

How to Get the Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Journeyperson (F-6) License in Connecticut?

  1. Visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Journeyperson (F-6) License. Follow the process held in the Fire Protection Licenses and Scope of Work
  2. Meet the necessary education requirements requested by the DCP
  3. Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or send by mail the Occupational Trade Journeyperson License Application to the DCP official email address This email address is being protected from spambots.     • Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
    • Photocopy of current Plumbing and Piping license (P-2) license with the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP)
    • One pipe manufacturer certification in the applicant’s name, for a type of piping that is approved for use in a residential fire sprinkler system
    • Original certificate from National Fire Sprinkler Association (N.F.S.A.) for “One and Two-Family Dwellings - Multipurpose Residential” for the installation of a NFPA-13D system
    • For military service experience and training related to this application, contact the CT Department of Labor at (860) 263-6128 to request a recommendation
    • Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
  4. Schedule the Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Journeyperson (F-6) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
