State Licenses
Concrete
Tests a candidate's knowledge of concrete work, including formwork, placement of steel reinforcement, batching, mixing, delivery, placing, finishing, and curing.
Demolition
Tests a candidate's knowledge of demolition and removal of structures and buildings.
Elevator
Tests a candidate's knowledge of the planning, installation, repair, alteration, and equipment associated with the installation of elevators, escalators, and conveyors.
Excavation
Tests a candidate's knowledge of the excavation and removal of materials, such as rock, gravel, and sand to construct or excavate for buildings, canals, lakes, and levees, including the clearing of land of surface debris and vegetation, the grubbing of roots, the removal of debris, and leveling of related surfaces.
Fire Alarm
Tests a candidate's knowledge of the design, plan, installation, repair, alteration, and maintenance of intrusion detection, fire detection, and signaling systems.
Roofing
Tests a candidate's knowledge of the installation, repair, and replacement of roof coverings, including roof deck insulation, roof coating, painting, covering the use of sheet metal products incidental to roofing work or other related material, and installation of nonstructural decking and siding.
Standard General Building
For work on residential and commercial structures, not limited to any height.
Standard Building
For work on residential and commercial structures no more than three stories high.
Standard Residential Building
For work on residential buildings only.
Swimming Pool
Tests a candidate's knowledge of the construction, service, and repair of residential swimming pools. Includes excavation and grading, construction, appurtenances, and installation of all equipment. Does not include direct connections to a sanitary sewer system or to potable water lines, nor the grounding and bonding of metal surfaces, nor the making of any electrical connections.
Topeka County Licenses
All licenses must be renewed each year by the 14th of December to avoid late fees. Contractor’s with Class A, B, or C, licenses are required to obtain (8) hours of continuing education each year in order to renew their licenses with the City of Topeka.

All City of Topeka licenses must be renewed each year by December 14th to avoid late fees. Attention Trade Contractor’s your designated master or journeyman are required to obtain (6) hours of continuing education a year to qualify for renewal with the City of Topeka (3) hours of continuing education must be earned in their trade.

- Master or Journeyman license holders are required to earn (6) continuing education hours a year. (3) hours are required to be Code Related. Late Fees will apply to all license renewals if postmarked after the 14th of December.
