How to Get the Surface Water Operator Class C Contractor’s License in Texas?

  1. Meet the required educational and work experience established by the Commission for Surface Water Operator Class C Contractor:
    • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
    • Two years of work experience, one of which must be hands-on; at least one half of the experience must be obtained in the specific field for the requested license
    • Thirty-Two semester hours of College or forty additional hours of approved training may replace one year of work experience
    • Sixteen semester hours of College or twenty additional hours of valid training to substitute six months of working experience
  2. Register for an exam at your Local TCEQ Regional Office or your Local Computer-Based Testing Center
  3. Take and pass the applicable examination
  4. Await for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality notification after the requisites confirmation and the process validation
