Texas Plumbing Inspector License
The Plumbing Inspector License grants you authorization to:
- Inspect plumbing work performed within the jurisdiction of any political subdivision with which the inspector is affiliated
- Perform Customer Service Inspection Certifications for public drinking water systems
An affiliation is established if the inspector is employed by, or under contract with, a political subdivision to perform plumbing inspections. An affiliated Plumbing Inspector may not have a financial or advisory interest in any plumbing company.
How to Get a Plumbing Inspector License in Texas?
- Meet with the following Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a citizen or a national of the United States, or an alien or non-immigrant
- Own a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Be previously licensed in Texas as:
- Architect
- Journeyman Plumber
- Master Plumber
- Professional Engineer
- Out-of-State Plumbing Inspector compliant with licensing requisites substantially equivalent to the licensing requirements of the TSBPE
- Apply for and present the corresponding exam through one of the following options:
- Online: Create a user (log-in if already created) on the Online Licensing System of the TSBPE to apply online for Plumber Inspector Examination:
- Click “choose an application” in the Manage Your License Information section and then select the exam to be taken from the drop-down menu
- Confirm all the personal information
- Receive a notice of authorization to test
- Paper: Submit a Plumber Inspector License Application to the Board for the Examination process with the following documents:
- Present the Fingerprint Information (this is a one-time requirement, there is no need to resubmit if done in the past)
- Pay the corresponding license fee to the TSBPE
- Online: Create a user (log-in if already created) on the Online Licensing System of the TSBPE to apply online for Plumber Inspector Examination:
- Expect an answer from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) after the licensure process has been successfully completed
