The Extinguisher Type K Kitchen Cooking Systems (FEL-K) Contractor License allows you to perform work such as:

• Testing of non-DOT Specification and DOT Specification (Per DOT Requirements) fire extinguisher cylinders
• Installation, certification, and servicing of portable extinguishers and Cooking, Residential Range Top and Portable systems used to protect a cooking area

This license DOES NOT enable the holder to plan, install or certify fixed systems.

“Certify” means that the licensee certifies that the system meets Insurance Code Chapter 6002 requirements. Certification does not mean the licensee can issue a certificate or placard stating that the system meets central station requirements.

How to Get the Extinguisher Type K Kitchen Cooking Systems (FEL-K) Contractor’s License in Texas?

7. Fill out the application, any extra documents or paperwork, and pay the fees all at once by submitting them to the Texas Department of Insurance (State Fire Marshal’s Office - P.O. Box 12107, Austin, Texas 78711-2107) or through the Sircon online platform
   • Each application's fee expenses must be combined into a single payment to cover all costs
8. Await an answer from the Office after the application for Extinguisher Type K Kitchen Cooking Systems (FEL-K) Contractor has been approved
   • The registered licensee will receive the Individual Licenses via email; paper licenses and pocket cards are no longer provided
