Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification License

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification License allows you to do the following work:

• Assist and work under the supervision of a Licensed Contractor in performing air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance or repair work

The ACR Technician Certification License DOES NOT allow you to advertise air conditioning and refrigeration services

How to Get the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification License in Texas?

1. Be over the age of 18
2. Submit the Certified Technician Application Form and pay the corresponding fee
3. Schedule an exam with PSI© only after the Department has received, verified and approved the application. If the applicant fails the exam, a retake could be scheduled with PSI© within 24 to 48. This process can be repeated as long as the application is current (one year from turning in the application). 4. Await for the test result that will be handed at the test center by the PSI© proctor once the test is completed. This is for the applicant's personal records only, as the test provider will convey the results to the TDLR electronically
5. Once the applicant has held an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification for 12 months and acquired at least 36 months of practical experience (in the preceding 48 months) in air conditioning and refrigeration related work under the supervision of a Licensed Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor, will be eligible to apply for a Contractor License
