New Mexico Mechanical Inspector License

The Mechanical Inspector License allows you to do the following work:

• Conduct inspections and enforce codes, laws, and standards in the regulation of mechanical and plumbing installations in the construction building trade
• Visit construction sites to ensure that all projects have the proper licensing and certifications
• Interpret codes, rules, and regulations for contractors and the general public
• Review construction plans to ensure construction work complies with adopted building codes
• Compile and submit inspection reports and provide assistance to less experienced inspectors

How to Get the Mechanical Inspector License in New Mexico?

1. Take and pass the following exam:
   • New Mexico Mechanical Inspector Trade Exam
2. Submit a complete notarized package with the following documents and send it to PSI©:
   
   • Contractor License Application
   • (CID) Contractor License Code Bond
   • Valid Qualifying Party Certificate
   • Examination Passing Score
   • Proof of Financial Responsibility Bond
   • Current (within the last year)New Mexico Tax ID number application with official stamp or registration certificate.

3. Once the application packet has been approved and eligibility cleared, the license will be issued via USPS to the home address provided. (Licenses are effective only for three years, and a Contractor License Renewal Form must be submitted prior to expiration during each cycle).
