Sponsorship
In order to sit for the contractor licensing exams in Lee County, you must first apply for sponsorship (simply means being authorized to take the exam) with Lee County to test through one of the companies listed above (GITS, Prometric, Prov). The sponsorship fee is $35. You must pass the test with a score of 75% or greater before submitting an application for a Lee County Certificate of Competency (AKA Contractor’s License). You may apply for sponsorship by sending an email to

- Type of Certificate of Competency

Application Process
Once you are authorized to take your exam (become sponsored) and you get a passing score, you must submit your application for the actual license before the board. Once the board has your application, they will review it at their next meeting, if you are approved, you get a license, if not, you will be advised on how to proceed.
