The Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) License allows you to do the following work, ONLY while employed by a licensed contractor:

Repair, alteration, maintenance, installation, or erection:
- Wire
- Cable
- Fixture
- Busway
- Conduit
- Raceway
- Support
- Insulator
- Conductor
- Appliance
- Apparatus
- Equipment
Work related to the generation, transformation, transmission, or utilization of electrical energy for:
- Heat
- Light
- Power
- Other purposes

Work with Low voltage wiring, not exceeding twenty-four volts, used within a lawn sprinkler system is not allowed to perform with this license.

How to Get the Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) License in Connecticut?

Visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining an Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) License. Follow the process held in the DCP Electrical License and in the Electrical Journeyperson
Meet the necessary education requirements requested by the DCP
- Required courses for high school graduation or GED test
- Apprenticeship certified by the CT DOL Apprentice Training Division
- Complete and submit the Office of Apprenticeship Training Completion Form before submitting an application for licensure
Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or send by mail the Occupational Trade Journeyperson License Application to the DCP official email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the following documents:
- Copy of current CT Registered Apprenticeship Card
- Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
- Original copy of the Letter of Apprenticeship Completion issued by the DOL
- Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
- Notarized letters from the employer describing duties and specific dates of the work done, if the applicant has never been registered in an apprenticeship program
- For military service experience and training related to this application, contact the CT Department of Labor at (860) 263-6128 to request a recommendation
- When applying for equivalent experience and training, including all documentation that demonstrates experience and training for this license type:
  - For Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) license equivalency, applicants holding out-of-state license(s) shall provide:
    - Copy of each out-of-state elevator journeyperson license, currently active
    - Notarized/certified letter from each state indicating good standing with the issuing board and the date that the license was initially issued
    - If licenses in multiple states are held, provide proof of at least one of those state's requirements that meet or exceed those indicated in the Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) contractor equivalency chart
    - Proof of successfully completed registered Apprenticeship Program from the DOL, including on the job training (OJT) and related instruction
Schedule the Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
- Take and pass the Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) exam
- If the exam is passed, submit the license fee along with the exam passing score results to obtain the official license
Await the official Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson (E-2) License issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
