The Limited Warm Air, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration System Journeyperson (D-2) License allows you to do the replacement, installation, repair, alteration, or maintenance of any:

  • Warm air
  • Air conditioning
  • Refrigeration system
  • Associated pumping equipment
  • Piping for the conveyance of:
    • Heating
    • Cooling

The scope of this license DOES NOT encompass the installation or maintenance of oil burners, regardless of their size, and can be performed ONLY while employed by a licensed contractor for such work.

    • Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
    • When applying for equivalent experience and training, including all documentation that demonstrates experience and training for this license type:
      • Applicants holding "Out of State" License(s) shall provide:
        • Letters from current or previous employer(s)
          • Letters must be on company letterhead, dated, and notarized
          • Must include dates of employment and a specific, detailed description of your on-the job-training, work experience, and scope of work
          • Letters that do not meet the criteria listed above will not be accepted
          • W-2’s, 1099’s, or tax returns for proof of your on the job training or work experience won’t be accepted
        • Proof of related instruction that meet or exceed those indicated in the Limited Warm Air, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration System Journeyperson (D-2) equivalency chart
          • Copies of transcripts
          • Diplomas
          • Certificates for proof of completion
          • On the job training and work experiences CAN NOT be considered instead of the required classroom training
        • If out-of-state licenses are applicable, must include:
          • Copies of all occupational trade licenses held in any state or jurisdiction
          • Documentation including laws and regulations from that state or jurisdiction that reflect the requirements met to obtain these licenses
          • Scope of work for these licenses
  4. Schedule the Limited Warm Air, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration System Journeyperson (D-2) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
