The Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) License allows you to do the maintenance, repair, replacement, installation, alteration, or erection of:

Photovoltaic or wind generation systems storage and distribution of such energy for:
- Heat
- Light
- Power
- Other purposes to a point immediately inside a structure or adjacent to an end use

Work can ONLY be performed while employed by a contractor licensed for such work.

How to Get the Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) License in Connecticut?

Visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining an Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) License. Meet the necessary education requirements requested by the DCP
- Required courses for high school graduation or GED test
- Apprenticeship certified by the CT DOL Apprentice Training Division
- Complete and submit the Office of Apprenticeship Training Completion Form before submitting an application for licensure

- Copy of current CT Registered Apprenticeship Card
- Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
- Original copy of the Letter of Apprenticeship Completion issued by the DOL
- Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
- Notarized letters from the employer describing duties and specific dates of the work done, if the applicant has never been registered in an apprenticeship program
- For military service experience and training related to this application, contact the CT Department of Labor at (860) 263-6128 to request a recommendation
- When applying for equivalent experience and training, including all documentation that demonstrates experience and training for this license type:
  - For Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) license equivalency, applicants holding out-of-state license(s) shall provide:
    - Copy of each out-of-state elevator journeyperson license, currently active
    - Notarized/certified letter from each state indicating good standing with the issuing board and the date that the license was initially issued
    - If licenses in multiple states are held, provide proof of at least one of those state's requirements that meet or exceed those indicated in the Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) equivalency chart
    - Proof of successfully completed registered Apprenticeship Program from the DOL, including on the job training (OJT) and related instruction
Schedule the Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
- Take and pass the Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) exam
- If the exam is passed, submit the license fee along with the exam passing score results to obtain the official license
Await the official Limited Solar Electric Journeyperson (PV-2) License issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
