The Limited Gas and Oil Burner Journeyperson (B-2) License, ONLY while employed by a licensed contractor, allows you to do the service, installation and repair of:

Gas or oil burners for:
- Domestic installations
- Light commercial installations

A burner in a domestic or light commercial setting will be classified as consuming a maximum of five gallons per hour.

- Copy of current CT Registered Apprenticeship Card
- Original copy of the Letter of Apprenticeship Completion issued by the DOL
- Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
- For military service experience and training related to this application, contact the CT Department of Labor at (860) 263-6128 to request a recommendation
- Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
- When applying for equivalent experience and training, including all documentation that demonstrates experience and training for this license type:
  - Applicants holding "Out of State" License(s) shall provide:
    - Letters from current or previous employer(s)
      
      Letters must be on company letterhead, dated, and notarized
      
      Must include dates of employment and a specific, detailed description of your on-the job-training, work experience, and scope of work
      
      Letters that do not meet the criteria listed above will not be accepted
      
      W-2’s, 1099’s, or tax returns for proof of your on the job training or work experience won’t be accepted
    - Proof of related instruction that meet or exceed those indicated in the Limited Gas and Oil Burner Journeyperson (B-2) equivalency chart
      
      Copies of transcripts
      
      Diplomas
      
      Certificates for proof of completion
      
      On the job training and work experiences CAN NOT be considered instead of the required classroom training
    - If out-of-state licenses are applicable, must include:
      
      Copies of all occupational trade licenses held in any state or jurisdiction
      
      Documentation including laws and regulations from that state or jurisdiction that reflect the requirements met to obtain these licenses
      
      Scope of work for these licenses
Schedule the Limited Gas and Oil Burner Journeyperson (B-2) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
- Take and pass the Limited Gas and Oil Burner Journeyperson (B-2) exam
- If the exam is passed, submit the license fee along with the exam passing score results to obtain the official license
