How to Get the Certified Electronic Technician, Unrestricted (V-2) License in Connecticut?

  1. Visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Certified Electronic Technician, Unrestricted (V-2) License. Follow the process held in the DCP Technician Application Instructions
  2. Meet the necessary education requirements requested by the DCP
  3. Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or fill out and submit by mail the Occupational Trade Television & Radio Technician License Application to the DCP official email address This email address is being protected from spambots.     • Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
    • Original copy of the letter of apprenticeship completion issued by the CT DOL
    • Apprenticeship letter from any state government or jurisdiction apprenticeship program
    • Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
    • For military service experience and training related to this application, contact the CT Department of Labor at (860) 263-6128 to request a recommendation
    • Include all documentation that demonstrates experience and training for this license type when applying for equivalent experience and training. It can be one of the following:
      • Certificates from completed courses
      • Educational transcripts or diplomas
      • Notarized letters from employers demonstrating on-the-job training
      • Copies of any licenses you may hold in another state
  4. Schedule the Certified Electronic Technician, Unrestricted (V-2) administered by PSI© in the desired location and time and pay the examination fee after receiving the DCP examination approval (the exam must be taken within one year from the date of approval):
  5. Await the official Certified Electronic Technician, Unrestricted (V-2) License issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
