Broward County (Florida) Journeyman Electrician (GITS©) License

In order to be eligible to receive certification from the board as a journeyman electrician, the applicant shall demonstrate possession of the skill, knowledge, and experience to install, repair, alter, add to, or design, in compliance with law, electrical wiring, luminaries, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduits, fire alarm systems, or any part thereof, which generate, transmit, transform, or utilize electrical energy in any form, including the electrical installations and systems within plants and sub-stations, all in compliance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, laws, and regulations. The applicant shall have no less than four (4) years of practical electrical experience employed by and working under the direct supervision of a certified or registered electrical contractor pursuant to the National Electrical Code or three (3) years of experience in a State registered apprenticeship. The board may, in its sole discretion, consider a person's formal or vocational education as experience in the trade. A person certified as a journeyman electrician by the board shall work as an employee of and under the supervision and direction of a master electrician and/or electrical contractor.
