Washington Irrigation Sprinkler Systems Contractor License
The Irrigation Sprinkler Systems Contractor License allows you to do the following work:
- Repair, install, and maintain sprinkler systems to distribute water for the purpose of irrigation
- Connections to potable water lines
- Installation of backflow prevention devices for non potable water
- Install hose bibs and service lines from source of supply, only permitted when:
- They are an integral part of the sprinkler system and outside a building
- Dust and soil erosion control using:
- Equipment
- Materials
- Fittings common to the industry
You may be required to obtain a plumbing certification for the use of pumps to draw or boost the pressure from any source of water that is used on a residential sprinkler system or for irrigation on a farm.
How to Get the Irrigation Sprinkler Systems Contractor’s License in Washington?
- Determine the business type and register with the Department of Revenue:
- If setting up a sole proprietor or partnership, determine the business name
- If starting a Limited Liability Company (LLC) or a Corporation, refer to the Secretary of State for information on how to incorporate the business
- Complete and get a Washington Continuous Contractor Surety Bond for the required amount
- Purchase a general liability insurance policy for the required amount
- Fill out an Application for Contractor Registration with notarized signatures. If unsure of how to correctly fill out the application form, the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries offers help with the application and business registration to those who visit their local offices
- Gather all the previous documents and send them with the registration fee to:
