Texas Residential Appliance Installation Contractor License

The Residential Appliance Installation Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

  • Engage in the business of residential appliance installation, including pool-related electrical installation and maintenance

A licensed Residential Appliance Installer MAY ONLY be assigned to a single Residential Appliance Installation Contractor unless the titular individual owns more than fifty percent of a second residential appliance installation contracting business. The organization must employ a Licensed Residential Appliance Installer to apply for this license, who can be the company owner.

How to Apply for a Residential Appliance Installation Contractor License

  1. Employ and designate a licensed Appliance Installer, who can be the business owner
    • If the Appliance Installer designated leaves the employment of the organization, this change must be notified to the department as soon as possible and a new Appliance Installer must be selected within the following thirty days
    • A single Appliance Installer can be assigned to only one Residential Appliance Contractor unless they own more than fifty percent of later electrical contracting business
  2. Ensure the organization meets the required limits of business liability insurance and provide proof of this according to the TDLR standards by filling out and turning in an Residential Appliance Installation Contractor Certificate of Insurance Form alongside the License application
  3. Define the business’s stand regarding Workers Compensation insurance, either with proof of having obtained it, a certificate of authority to self-insure or a statement that the choice has been made to not have Workers Compensation insurance pursuant to Subchapter A, Chapter 406, Labor Code
  4. Submit a Residential Appliance Installation Contractor License Application Form with the payment of the corresponding non-refundable fee to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation P.O Box 12157 in Austin, Texas 78711-2157
  5. Await for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) to give a response once the application is completed and reviewed
