Texas On-Site Sewage Facility System (OSSF) Maintenance Technician License

The On-Site Sewage Facility System (OSSF) Maintenance Technician License permits the holder, under the direct supervision and direction of the Maintenance Provider, to:

  • Perform services associated with OSSF maintenance on-site or by direct communication with the maintenance provider

How to Get the On-Site Sewage Facility System (OSSF) Maintenance Technician License in Texas?

  • Schedule and complete a Basic Maintenance Provider Training Course with the TOWA
  • Access the OLEA portal by creating an account on the TCEQ SUNSS platform and selecting the corresponding application form
  • Pay for the corresponding fee through this platform as well
    • If the application is approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the candidate will receive an approval letter by mail in three to four weeks, alongside instructions on how to register for the exam
    • If a deficiency is found in the application packet, a deficiency letter will be sent out instead, and the candidate will have 120 days to clear the deficiency(s). If not cleared accordingly, the application will expire, and it will be required to submit an application and fee to reapply for the license. Application fees are not refundable
