The Irrigation Inspector (II) License allows the holder to conduct the following work:

  • Inspect irrigation systems
  • Determine if an irrigation system complies with the rule requirements
  • Establish if the appropriate backflow prevention device is installed

  2. Submit the TCEQ online Application Form
  3. Present a Criminal History Attestation
  4. Pay the established fee
  5. Wait for the approval letter to be mailed to the address on your application
  6. Contact your Testing Center, or your TCEQ Regional Office for exam details
  7. Pass the applicable exam with a minimum score of 70 percent for each section

Texas Irrigation Inspector (II) License Exam

Below are the currently available details regarding the Irrigation Inspector (II) exam. Before candidates are allowed to take the computer-based test, they must first comply with the criteria to receive pre-approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After receiving clearance, applicants can take four tests during a one-year approval period (the initial test plus up to three retests) at the Registered Test Center. If the candidate is ineligible to retake the examination, access to the licensing test will not be granted. Depending on the test site, applicants that fail to pass the initial test may retest it once right away but must come back on a different day to attempt the remaining three out of their four chances.
