Oregon Limited Energy (CLE) Contractor License

The Limited Energy (CLE) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

  • Electrical work on limited energy systems
  • Direct, supervise, and perform electrical installations

The Limited Energy (CLE) Contractor License authorizes you to employ at least one Limited Energy Technician, Class A (LEA), Limited Energy Technician, Class B (LEB), or General Journeyman as signing supervising electrician and, by doing so, to perform the work defined for that license.

How to Get the Limited Energy (CLE) Contractor’s License in Oregon?

  1. Fill out the Limited Energy (CLE) License Application Form
  2. Provide the company’s Construction Contractors Board number and expiration date:
  3. According to OAR 918-030-0015, businesses registered with the Building Codes Division (BCD) and applying for a business license must show an active license with the Construction Contractors Board (CCB)
  4. If the business/company is exempt from CCB licensure, the applicant must attach a letter with the application packet explaining the reason for the exemption
  5. Register the company’s name with Oregon’s Secretary of State
  6. Designate a Signing Supervisor:
