How to Get the Telecommunications Layout Technician License in Connecticut?

  1. Review the requirements and visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Telecommunications Layout Technician License
  2. Meet the required education and experience
    • RCDD Certificate from the educational provider BICSI
    • Proof must be provided indicating that the applicant has maintained a valid unlimited or limited electrical license issued by the Electrical Work Board or possesses a public service technician certificate for a period of no less than five years. Alternatively, the applicant may present evidence of equivalent experience and training that satisfy the requirements for obtaining a electrical license

  3. Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or submit the completed Telecommunications Infrastructure Layout Technician Application, along with the required documentation and fee, to the Connecticut DCP License Services Division
  4. Upon approval of your application, an invoice for an initial license fee will be issued. Your license will be activated upon receipt of the initial license fee
  5. Await the official Public Service Telecommunications Technician license issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
