Connecticut New Home Construction Contractor License
The New Home Construction Contractor License allows you to construct or sell:
- New Home
- Any portion of a new home prior to occupancy
How to Get the New Home Construction Contractor’s License in Connecticut?
- Review the requirements and visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a New Home Construction Contractor License
- Follow the process held in the New Home Construction Contractor Applications
- Meet the necessary registration requirements requested by the DCP before applying
- Determine whether to register as an individual (sole proprietorship) or a legal entity (LLC, corporation)
- If a contract is held with consumers as an LLC, then register as an LLC
- Holding a new home construction contractor registration as an individual does not cover the LLC
- Legal entities (both in-state and out-of-state) must register their business with the CT Secretary of State’s Office
- If offering home improvement services in addition to building new homes, apply for the home improvement designation as part of the new home application
- Determine whether to register as an individual (sole proprietorship) or a legal entity (LLC, corporation)
- Pay the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
- All applications for the New Home Construction Contractor License MUST be submitted online in the State of Connecticut's eLicense website
