Connecticut Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems (MG-2) Contractor License

The Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems (MG-2) Contractor License allows you to do the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of:

  • Gas systems
  • Vacuum systems
  • Equipment used solely to:
    • Transport gases for medical purposes
    • Remove:
      • Liquids
      • Air-gases
      • Solids from such systems

How to Get the Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems (MG-2) Contractor’s License in Connecticut?

  1. Visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems (MG-2) Contractor License. Follow the process held in the Licensing for Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems and in the Instructions for Applying for Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems Certificate
  2. Meet one of the following necessary education requirements requested by the DCP
    • Required courses for high school graduation or GED test
    • Possess an Unlimited Journeyperson Plumber (P-2), Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling Journeyperson (S-2), or Limited Heating, Cooling, and Piping Journeyperson (S-4) license
    • Been certified as a medical gas and vacuum system brazer in accordance with the standards of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
    • Have completed an approved training course on medical gas and vacuum system installation as required by ANSI-ASSE Series 6000
  3. Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or submit by mail the Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems Certificate Application to the DCP official email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or to the Occupational and Professional Licensing office with the following documents:
    • Photocopy of current respective Connecticut license
    • Original certificate of course on medical gas and vacuum system installation as required by ANSI-ASSE Series 6000
    • Original certificate that you are certified as a medical gas and vacuum system brazer, issued in accordance with the standards of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
    • Criminal Conviction Worksheet, when requested
    • Receipt for payment of the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
  4. Expect the official Medical Gas & Vacuum Systems (MG-2) Contractor License issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
