Connecticut Mechanical Contractor License
The Mechanical Contractor License is intended for any corporation, association, firm, partnership, or other business organization that:
- Offers to the public the services of its employees in:
- Plumbing work
- Piping work
- Heating, piping, and cooling work
- Is engaged in the installation, repair, alteration, or replacement of:
- Sewer lines
- Storm drainage lines
- Water lines
- Water services
- Does NOT mean any corporation that performs work exclusively on:
- Single Family residences
- Multifamily Private residences
- Dwellings consisting of:
- Not more than four units
- Which employs less than ten persons licensed
How to Get the Mechanical Contractor’s License in Connecticut?
- Review the requirements and visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Mechanical Contractor License
- Follow the process held in the Mechanical Contractor Registration
- Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or complete all spaces in the Application for Registration as Mechanical Contractor printed in ink or type
- Provide the application with all the following documents when requested:
- Complete the Criminal Conviction Worksheet if the applicant, any partner, or director of the corporation ever been convicted of a felony crime
- Complete the list of employees (at least 10) performing such work. Use additional sheets, if necessary, with the following information:
- Names
- License types
- License numbers
- Provide the application with all the following documents when requested:
- Pay the non-refundable application fee by check and/or money order to the "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
- Return your completed application and fee to the DCP License Services Division and wait the official Mechanical Contractor license issuance
