Connecticut Maintenance and Repair Trainees Cleaning and Backwash License

The Maintenance and Repair Trainees Cleaning and Backwash Licensee may perform, ONLY under direct supervision, the following work on a swimming pool:

  • Draining
  • Acid Washing
  • Backwash Filtration

How to Get the Maintenance and Repair Trainees Cleaning and Backwash License in Connecticut?

  1. Review the requirements and visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Maintenance and Repair Trainees Cleaning and Backwash License
    • If a contractor wishes to register for a trade area that is not available through the Connecticut Department of Labor, they must make a request to the appropriate board before hiring an employee
    • Apprentices/trainees must be directly supervised by a licensed individual and should not exceed one apprentice/trainee per licensed person on site
    • The total number of trainees employed cannot exceed the number of license holders within the company
  2. Fill it out the Application for Apprentice Trainee Registration and gather all the necessary documents:
    • Outline of the applicant's training program, detailing the content and hours for both related instruction and on-the-job training
    • List of all licensed individuals, along with their license numbers and types, who are available to supervise and train the applicant. Additionally, include a list of existing trainees employed, along with their registration numbers
  3. Send the completed application, along with the required documentation, to the Connecticut DCP License Services Division
  4. Await the official Maintenance and Repair Trainees Cleaning and Backwash license issued by the Department of Consumer Protection
