How to Get the Lead Abatement Contractor's License in Connecticut?

  1. Visit the CT Department of Public Health (DPH) website, and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Lead Abatement Contractor License. Follow the process held in the Environmental Practitioner Licensure and the Lead Abatement Contractor License
  2. Applying for a Lead or Asbestos license is NOW online, steps are described at State of Connecticut's eLicense website following the Online Application Instructions:
    • Register business in the eLicensing portal
    • Answer all questions
    • Upload the following documents (have them available on the device used to apply):
      • Proof of filing of organization papers with the Connecticut Secretary of State's Office (SOTS)
      • Businesses must be registered with (SOTS) and have a business ID number
      • Document indicating the number of personnel of each job category:
        • Lead Abatement Contractor
        • Lead Abatement Supervisor
        • Lead Abatement Worker
        • Other
      • List of equipment or an explanation for not owning equipment
      • Copies of lead credentials held in other states (if applicable)
      • Sole proprietors are required to be credentialed as both a company and in the specific discipline that governs the service provided
      • Lead site supervisor's current training certificate (if applicable)
  3. Pay online the Invoice for the licensing fee through the State of Connecticut's eLicense website
