Connecticut Elevator Apprentice Trainee License

The Elevator Apprentice Trainee License allows you to perform work:

  • With a limit of one trainee per licensed person on site
  • Under the direct supervision of a licensed elevator-related individual

How to Get the Elevator Apprentice Trainee’s License in Connecticut?

  1. Review the requirements and visit the CT Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) website and read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining an Elevator Apprentice Trainee License. Follow the process held in the Elevator Apprentice Trainee application path
    • No person that has been issued an apprentice / trainee registration shall at any time engage in any work for which a license is required without direct supervision
    • Direct supervision and/or hearing of said licensed person and not exceeding one apprentice / trainee to each person on site
    • Total number of trainees cannot exceed the number of license holders in company
  2. Apply online, by visiting the State of Connecticut's eLicense website or complete the Application for Apprentice Trainee Registration
    • Attach applicant training program outline, including content and hours for both related instruction and on the job training, which shall be followed
    • Attach a list of licensed persons, license numbers, and type(s) available to supervise and train such applicants. List of existing Trainee’s employed and registration numbers
  3. Submit by mail the completed application and the appropriate required documentation for the license type to the DCP official email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and await DCP's response to the application process
  4. Await the official Elevator Apprentice Trainee license issued by the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP)
