Connecticut Demolition (B) Contractor License
The Demolition (B) Contractor License allows you to do the demolition of buildings that have clearance from:
- Roads
- Highways
- Other structures
This license is not required for the following:
- Demolition of farm buildings
- Removal of underground petroleum storage tanks
- Deconstruction or disassembly of swimming pools
- Renovation, alteration, or reconstruction of a single-family residence
- Burning of a building or structure as part of an organized fire department training exercise
- Disassembly, transportation, and reconstruction of historic buildings for historical purposes
- Disassembly of nonstructural building materials of a building for the purpose of reusing or recycling such building materials
- Demolition of a single-family residence or outbuilding by an owner of such structure if it does not exceed a height of thirty feet
How to Get the Demolition (B) License in Connecticut?
- Visit the CT Department of Administrative Services (DAS) website to read the eligibility criteria, prerequisites, and documentation requirements for obtaining a Demolition (B) Contractor License. Follow the process held in the Apply for a CT Demolition License
- Register to create an account with Connecticut's eLicense Site and fill out the Demolition (B) license application
- Pay the corresponding fee of the application to the DAS
- Meet the requirements of the Department of Administrative Services:
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in the field of demolition of structures equal to or less than two and one-half stories or 35 feet in height
- Evidence of Financial responsibility to engage in the business of demolition
- Await the response from the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) for confirmation if the license will be issued. The applicant will receive the Demolition (B) license via mail
