Steps on obtaining a construction permit in the City of Homestead:
- First Complete a Building Permit Application.
- Submit the permit application and two sets of plans to the City of Homestead for review.
- After all reviews are completed and approved, the applicant may pay the permit fee and the permit card will be issued.
- If the owner of the building is planning to complete the work himself or herself, then the owner-builder must attach proof of ownership (warranty deed or tax receipt) and sign the Owner/Builder Affidavit.

Please fill out and return the application along with copy of the following items and submit it to the City of Homestead:

- Certificate of Competency
- Miami-Dade Municipal Contractor’s Tax Receipt (MC)
- Miami-Dade Local Business Tax Receipt (LBT)
- State of Florida Contractor License/Registration
- Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance
- Driver’s License (original or clear & legible color copy only)
