In the City of Hialeah, all applicants requesting a building permit must fill out a permit application with proof of the following:
- License and registration with Dade County and the State of Florida
- Pay a nonrefundable yearly administration fee of $25.00 to meet our City records
- Insurance certificate addressed to the City of Hialeah Gardens showing expiration date (must be original)
In the City of Hialeah, a permit is needed for the following trades:

- Mechanical
- Plumbing/Gas
- Paving
- Drainage
- Sign
- Roofing
In the City of Hialeah, the following types of improvements require permits:
- New construction
- Addition Attached
- Addition Detached
- Alteration Interior
- Alteration Exterior
- Repair/Replace
- Repair Due to Fire
- Demolition
Specialty Contractor Registration
In the City of Hialeah, the following documents need to be submitted along with the contractor registration form:
- County Licensed:
Copy of State License
Certificate of Liability Insurance (City of Hialeah as certificate holder)
Certificate of Workman’s Compensation (City of Hialeah as certificate holder) or Workman’s Compensation exemption
Occupational License (Business Tax Receipt) from where your business is located
Copy of Qualifier Driver’s License
