Hello Mario,

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) oversees the regulations for mold remediation. Per the DBPR, a Mold Remediator must possess a valid license to carry out mold remediation tasks. However, the requirements for workers who assist the Licensed Remediator are different.

In Florida, having a Mold Remediator License means that your employees can conduct remediation activities under your supervision and direction, as stated by the DBPR and Chapter 468 of the current Florida Statutes. In other words, your workers do not need to obtain individual licenses. Still, as the Licensed Mold Remediator, you must ensure all work follows Florida regulations and industry best practices.

Conducting in-house training as a Mold Remediator with a valid license can guarantee that your workers possess the required knowledge and skills and understand proper remediation techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.

Rules and requirements can change over time, so staying informed and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations is essential. Below, you can consult the official mold remediation licensure exemptions stated in the Florida Statutes (Chapter 468.841):

Hello Christopher,

To renew your license in Florida for mold remediation, as it pertains to your general contractor license, you'll need to follow several steps:

Verify Continuing Education Requirements: Ensure that you have completed the required continuing education courses specific to your license. In Florida, the requirements vary based on the license type.
Complete the Renewal Application: Submit the renewal application provided by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). This can typically be done online through the DBPR website.
Pay Renewal Fees: There will be fees associated with the renewal of your license, which you will need to pay upon submitting your application.
Documentation: Ensure all your documentation is up to date, including proof of insurance and any other required certifications.
