West Virginia Elevator Apprentice License

The Elevator Apprentice License allows you to do the following work (under the supervision of a licensed Elevator Mechanic):

  • Oiling
  • Painting
  • Cleaning
  • Greasing
  • Relamping
  • Fixture maintenance
  • Comb plate teeth replacement
  • Observation of equipment operation
  • Inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of:
    • Hoist way doors
    • Car tops, bottoms, and pits

How to Get the Elevator Apprentice License in West Virginia?

    • Needs to complete the program's requirement of at least one year of training
    • Completed at least one year of the program, meaning that the tasks stipulated in §21-3C-10a of the West Virginia Code can be performed
