How to Get the Temporary and Special Purpose Conveyances (04) Contractor’s License in Washington?

  1. Submit an Application for Licensure as an Elevator Mechanic
  2. Meet the experience and education requirements for the license:
    • Have a minimum of three years' work experience in the elevator industry performing conveyance work which must be verified by current and previous employers licensed to do business in Washington or as an employee of a public agency
  3. Take and pass the examination administered by the National Elevator Industry Educational Program. For more information regarding the test, please contact them at 800-228-8220
  4. Expect the Department of Labor & Industries' response in regards to the license
