Washington Electrical Contractor License
The Electrical Contractor License allows you to do the following work:
- Offer and bid for electrical-related work
- Undertake in installation and maintenance of wires and equipment that convey electrical current
- Employ certified electricians
- Have a certified electrical administrator or master electrician to ensure compliance with code
How to Get the Electrical Contractor's License in Washington?
- Meet the license requirements:
- A valid Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number from the Department of Revenue or the Secretary of State, along with the business name and structure
- Have a certified, assigned electrical administrator or master electrician
- A $4,000 electrical contractor's surety bond, or assignment of savings account
- Obtain a workers' compensation account if the business is planning on hiring employees
- Fill out and submit the required documentation:
- Application for Electrical Contractor's License
- Change Assignment of Administrator/Master Certificate (a notarized copy)
- Electrical/Telecommunications Contractor's Bond or Electrical/Telecommunications Contractor Assignment of Savings Account
- Certificate of general liability insurance
- Send all the documents and corresponding fees to:
