Boilers Licenses
The Boiler Program is in charge of issuing Boiler permits and performing inspections for boilers and pressure vessels in the State of Washington. The Boiler Program currently offers two licenses related to Boiler work; Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector and Boiler Operator
For inspectors, the Program issues a work card through The Department of Labor & Industries, which allows an inspector to perform work within the state. As for the Boiler Operator license, a license is not needed in the State of Washington. Nonetheless, three cities are the exception to this since they require a valid license to perform Boiler work. These cities, along with their licensure information and contact numbers, are listed below:
How to get the Washington Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector License?
In the state of Washington, all Boiler and Pressure vessel inspectors must have a "work card" issued by L&I. The applicant must meet the following steps to qualify for a work card.
- Submit an Application for Certificate of Competency as an Inspector of Pressure Retaining Items
- Note that the application must be received 30 days before the examination date
- Take and pass the National Board and the Washington State boiler examination
- Boiler Inspector exams are provided by request.
