Virginia Water Well/Pump (WWP) Contractor License

The Water Well/Pump (WWP) Contractor License, as defined in § 62.1-255 of the Code of Virginia, allows you to do the following work:

• Well pump
• Tank
• Pipe
• Wire

No other classification or specialty service provides for the construction of water wells.

The General, Virginia, and Advanced portions must be passed by the applicant interested in Class A. Class B applicants must complete the General and Virginia portions of the examination. Applicants applying for Class C class type are only required to take a trade exam.

How to Get the Water Well/Pump (WWP) Contractor License in Virginia?

1. Fill out the Water Well/Pump (WWP) Contractor application form
2. Send the document and the corresponding fee to:
   Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation

3. Complete a pre-licensure education course that has been accepted by the DPOR-approved provider
4. Apply and pass the PSI© Water Well/Pump (WWP) examination
   • Apply online in PSI©:

     2. Fill out the information
     3. Schedule and pay the examination
   • If applying by mail, phone, or fax:
     1. Fill out the examination registration form
     2. Schedule and send the fee
     3. Send the information to:
