How to Get the Master Conventional Onsite Sewage System Operators License in Virginia?

1. Meet one of the qualifications to be eligible to apply:
   • Qualification 1

     • Prerequisites
       • Have a wastewater works operator license
       • No education requirements
       • No documented qualifying experience is needed
   • Qualification 2

     • No prerequisites
     • Education Required
       • Have 10 hours of education approved by the board covering the basics of operation and maintenance of conventional onsite sewage systems
     • Documented qualifying experience
       • Have six months of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of conventional or alternative onsite sewage systems, verified by one or more of the following:
         • Onsite soil evaluator
         • Onsite sewage system operator
         • Professional engineer
         • Authorized onsite soil evaluator
   • Qualification 3

     • No prerequisites
     • No education required
     • Documented qualifying experience
       • Have one year of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of conventional or alternative onsite sewage systems, verified by one or more of the following:
         • Onsite soil evaluator
         • Onsite sewage system operator
         • Professional Engineer
         • Authorized onsite soil evaluator
2. Fill out the experience verification form and attach it to the license application
3. Send these documents to the DPOR Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals:
