The Journeyman Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer License allows you to do the following:
- Work under the direct supervision of a master licensee:
- Alternative onsite sewage systems:
- Construct
- Install
- Repair
- Design onsite sewage systems
- Alternative onsite sewage systems:
How to Get the Journeyman Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer License in Virginia?
To apply, the candidates must fulfill one of the following qualifications:
- Qualification 1:
- Prerequisites: Be an employee, owner, director, or officer of a properly licensed contractor with a sewage disposal system (SDS) specialty issued by the Virginia Board for Contractors
- Document Qualifying Experience: One year of full-time experience assisting with the installation of alternative onsite sewage systems verified by one or more of the following: an Alternative Onsite Soil Evaluator, an Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer, a Professional Engineer, or an Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator
- No education or exam requirements
- Qualification 2:
- Document Qualifying Experience: Two years of full-time experience assisting with the installation of alternative onsite sewage systems verified by one or more of the following: an Alternative Onsite Soil Evaluator, an Alternative Onsite Sewage System Installer, a Professional Engineer, or an Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator
- No education or exam requirements
Once completed, follow these steps:
- Fill out the license application, as well as an experience verification form
- Submit the documents along with the corresponding fee to the DPOR
- Expect a response from The Department in regards to the license
