Utah Limited Inspector License

The Limited Inspector License allows you to do the following work:

  • Inspect the components of any building, structure or work for which a standard is provided in the state construction codes
  • Determine whether the construction, alteration, remodeling, repair, or installation of components of any building, structure, or work is in compliance with the state construction codes
  • After determination of compliance, or noncompliance with the state construction codes, take appropriate action as is provided in the adopted codes

How to Get the Limited Inspector License in Utah?

  1. Submit a certification for one or more of the following exams:
    1. The International Code Council (ICC)
      • Residential Combination Inspector (ICC Exam ID: R5)
      • Commercial Combination (ICC Exam ID: C5)
      • Commercial Building Inspector (ICC Exam ID: B2)
      • Commercial Electrical Inspector (ICC Exam ID: E2)
      • Commercial Plumbing Inspector (ICC Exam ID: P2)
      • Commercial Mechanical Inspector (ICC Exam ID: M2)
      • Residential Building Inspector (ICC Exam ID: B1)
      • Residential Electrical Inspector (ICC Exam ID: E1)
      • Residential Plumbing Inspector (ICC Exam ID: P1)
      • Residential Mechanical Inspector (ICC Exam ID: M1)
      • Any other special or otherwise limited inspector code used by ICC
    2. American Welding Society (AWS)
      • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
    3. International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI)
      • Certified Electrical Inspectors - Master (CEI-M)
      • Certified Electrical Inspector - Residential (CEI-R)
