Utah Elevator Mechanic License
The Utah Elevator Mechanic License allows you to do the following work:
- Perform any of the following work on elevators under the immediate supervision of an elevator contractor:
- Erect
- Construct
- Install
- Alter
- Service
- Repair
- Maintain
How to Get the Elevator Mechanic License in Utah?
- Check the certificate and experience requirements (if applying with this prerequisite, please skip to step 4):
- There is no exam required if the applicant holds a certificate from a registered apprenticeship program:
- Experience Qualifications:
- Have 6000 hours of supervised training by a licensed elevator contractor or an employee with similar qualifications
- Apply online in ProV©:
- Register for the Elevator Mechanic test
- Schedule and pay for the test
- Pass the examination
Complete the license application process:
- If applying with a certificate of completion, provide a copy of one of the following:
- The Canadian Elevator Industry Education Program
- The National Elevator Industry Education Program
- The National Association of Elevator Contractors Certified Elevator Technician Education Program
- Any other program that meets the requirements established by the Commission
- If applying by experience:
- Submit the Affidavit of Work Experience
- Send copies of the W-2 forms
- If applying with a certificate of completion, provide a copy of one of the following:
- Send the application to the Department:
- If applying by mail:
- Fill out the license application form
- Send it to:
