St.Lucie County has discontinued its offers of Competency cards for Tile, Marble and Terrazzo, Canvas Awning, Paver Block, and Painting. General

Construction of unlimifted as to height, area and complexity of construction undertaken including clearing and grubbing, grading, excavating and other site work of any construction project.

Acoustical Ceiling

Construction of acoustical ceilings in any building or structure.

Alarm System I (Includes Fire Alarm)

Installation of all types of alarm systems.

Alarm System II

Installation of all types of alarm systems, other than fire.

Aluminum I (With Concrete)

Erection of accessories such as metal siding, soffits, gutters, awnings and prefabricated rooms, place reinforcing steel, miscellaneous steel and finish concrete incidental to an aluminum accessory structure only, on grade only.

Aluminum II (Without Concrete)

Installation of aluminum structures, including screen rooms, with solid or screen roofs, metal siding, soffits, gutters and awnings.

Awning Installation

Installation of canvas awnings on any building or structure.

Building

Construction of commercial buildings and single-dwelling or multiple-dwelling residential buildings, which commercial or residential buildings do not exceed three (3) stories in height, and accessory use structures in connection therewith.

Carpentry

Installation of any wood products in a building including, but not limited to, rough framing, structural and nonstructural, trusses, sheathing and the work of the finish carpentry contractor.

Carpentry (Finish Trim)

Installation of finish wood products including paneling, trim cabinetry, doors, windows (including metal) and all hardware incidental thereto.

Class A Air Conditioning

Installation of central air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilating systems, including duct work in connection with a complete system only to the extent such duct work performed by the contractor is necessary to make complete an air distribution system, boiler and unfired pressure vessel systems, and all appurtenances, apparatus, or equipment used in connection therewith, piping, insulation of pipes, vessels and ducts, pressure and process piping, and pneumatic control piping, to replace, disconnect or reconnect power wiring on the load side of the dedicated existing electrical disconnect switch; to connect low voltage heating, ventilating, and air conditioning control wiring; and to install a condensate drain from an air conditioning unit to an existing safe waste or other approved disposal other than a direct connection to a sanitary systems.

Class B Air Conditioning

Limited to 25 tons of cooling and 500,000 BTU of heating in any one system and the execution of contracts requiring the experience and installation of central air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilating systems, including duct work in connection with a complete system only to the extent such duct work is performed by the contractor as is necessary to make complete an air-distribution system being installed under this classification, piping and insulation of pipes, vessels, and ducts; to replace, disconnect, or reconnect power wiring on the load side of the dedicated existing electrical disconnect switch; to install low voltage heating, ventilating, and air conditioning control wiring; and to install a condensate drain from an air conditioning unit to an existing safe waste or other approved disposal other than a direct connection to a sanitary system.

Class C Air Conditioning

Construction of air conditioning, heating, or refrigeration systems, including duct alterations in connection with those systems only.

Communication and Sound

Erection of wiring, apparatus, circuits, and equipment operating at less than 50 volts, raceways, conduit for private telephone, intercom and public address systems.

Concrete

Construction to concrete work, including concrete form work, placement of reinforcement, batching, mixing, delivery, placing, finishing, and curing.

Demolition

Demolition and removal of structures, such as dwellings, commercial buildings and foundations.

Drywall

Installation of gypsum drywall products to wood and metal studs, wood and steel joists and metal runners in buildings of unlimited area and height.

Electrical

Erection of electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduit, or any part thereof, which generates, transmits, transforms, or utilizes electrical energy in any form, including the electrical installation and systems within plants and substations, all in compliance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, laws, and regulations.

Electrical (Journeyman)

Erection of electrical trades while employed or supervised by an Electrical Contractor.

Fence

Construction of fences consisting of metal and wooden materials for buildings and structures.

Garage Door Installation

Installation of garage doors.

Glass and Glazing

Installation of all makes and kinds of glass and glasswork and execute the glazing frames, panels, sash and door add holding metal frames, ornamental decorations, mirrors, tub and shower enclosures.

Gunite

Application of mix materials and pressure equipment.

High Pressure Gas Pipelines

Construction of transmission and distribution lines for liquid or gaseous fuels under pressure in welded pipes, valves, meters and similar components incidental thereto.

Hurricane Protection

Installation of exterior opening protection assemblies, including hurricane shutter assemblies and similar products.

Insulation

Construction of any insulation primarily installed to prevent loss or gain of heat from internal or external sources in pipes, vessels, ducts or built-up refrigerated boxes or rooms, or acoustical materials.

Irrigation Sprinkler

Installation of all piping and sprinkler heads for the irrigation of lawns, including the connection to a water pump and installation of master controller for the installed sprinkler system.

Land Clearing

Construction of land of vegetation, the grubbing of roots, the removal of surface debris and leveling of the surface lands incidental to the land clearing action.

Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gas

Installation of liquefied petroleum gas piping, appliances, gas mains, lines, laterals, tanks, regulators, meters and other appurtenances and paraphernalia in connection therewith.

Marine

Construction of docks, bulkheads, revetments, piers, wharfs, groins, seawall, boatlifts, dune crossovers and other marine structures, including pile driving, framing, concrete, masonry dredge and fill.

Masonry

Construction of concrete block or any other unit masonry products, lay brick and other baked clay products, rough cut and dress stone, artificial stone and precast blocks, structural glass brick or block, but not pouring or finishing concrete.

Master Electrical (Non-Contractor

Construction of electrical systems, fire alarm systems, and all appurtenances, equipment, and apparatus used in connection therewith in accordance with the building code and all other applicable codes and regulations, and to supervise and direct other persons who engage in such activities.

Master Plumber

Installation in plumbing trades while employed or supervised by a Plumbing Contractor who have taken and passed the Master Plumber Block Exam, but who, by their own choice, do not wish to meet the full requirements of a Contractor.

Mechanical

Installation of central air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilating systems, including duct work in connection with a complete system only to the extent such duct work is performed by the contractor as is necessary to make complete an air-distribution system, boiler and unfired pressure vessel systems, lift station equipment and piping, and all appurtenances, apparatus, or equipment used in connection therewith, piping, insulation of pipes, vessels and ducts, pressure and process piping, pneumatic control piping, gasoline tanks and pump installations and piping for same, standpipes, air piping, vacuum line piping, oxygen lines, nitrous oxide piping, ink and chemical lines, fuel transmission lines, and natural gas fuel lines within buildings; to replace, disconnect, or reconnect power wiring on the load side of the dedicated existing electrical disconnect switch; to install low voltage heating, ventilating, and air conditioning control wiring; and to install a condensate drain from an air conditioning unit to an existing safe waste or other approved disposal other than a direct connection to a sanitary system.

Metal Building

Erection of single story metal buildings, including site work, concrete, masonry, siding, roofing, windows and doors.

Mobile Home Set-up

Construction of set-up, tie down, repair, painting, re-roofing, cleaning and other such work to a mobile home that does not require any electrical, plumbing, heating or air conditioning.

Painting

Construction of spraying equipment as well as hand tools to finish both exterior and interior work, paperhanging, sandblasting, waterproofing and may clean and finish roofs.

Paver Block

Erection of proper drainage, to select and lay paver units.

Paving

Construction of roads, airport runways and aprons, parking lots, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, property line walls, storm drainage facilities and performance of excavating, clearing and grading incidental thereto.

Plaster and Stucco

Application of sand or other aggregate gypsum plaster, portland cement or quick-lime and water, or any combination of such material as to create a permanent surface coating.

Plumber (Journeyman)

Construction in the plumbing trades while employed or supervised by a Plumbing Contractor.

Plumbing

Installation of sanitary drainage or storm drainage facilities, water and sewer plants and substations; venting systems; public or private water supply systems; septic tanks; drainage and supply wells; swimming pool piping; irrigation systems; and solar heating water systems and all appurtenances, apparatus, or equipment used in connection therewith, including boilers and pressure process piping and including the installation of water, natural gas liquefied petroleum gas and related venting, and storm and sanitary sewer lines, extension of air-piping, vacuum line piping, oxygen line piping, nitrous oxide piping, and all related medical gas systems; fire line standpipes and fire sprinklers to the extent authorized by law; ink and chemical lines; fuel oil and gasoline piping and tank and pump installation, except bulk storage plants; and pneumatic control piping systems, all in a manner that complies with all plans, specifications, codes, laws, and regulations applicable.

Pool/Spa Commercial

Erection of any swimming pool, or hot tub or spa, whether public, private, or otherwise, regardless of use. The scope of such work includes layout, excavation, operation of construction pumps for dewatering purposes, steelwork, installation of light niches, construction of floors, guniting, fiber glassing, installation of tile and coping, installation of all perimeter and filter piping, installation of all filter equipment and chemical feeders of any type, plastering of the interior, construction of decks, construction of equipment rooms or housing for pool equipment, and installation of package pool heaters.

Pool/Spa Maintenance

Installation of water treatment systems, including, but not limited to, the direct infusion of chlorine gas, and the maintenance of any swimming pool, hot tub or spa, whether public or private, piping and repair of existing equipment, reinstallation of tile and coping, repair of all piping, filter equipment, and chemical feeders of any type, reconstruction of decks, and reinstallation or addition of pool heaters.

Pool/Spa Residential

Construction of any residential swimming pool or hot tub or spa, operation of construction pumps for dewatering purposes, steelwork, installation of light niches, floors, guniting, fiber glassing, installation of tile and coping, all perimeter and filter piping, installation of all filter equipment and chemical feeders of any type, plastering of the interior, construction of decks, installation of housing for pool equipment, and package pool heaters.

Residential

Installation of improvement of one-family, two-family, or three-family residences not exceeding two (2) stories in height and accessory use structures in connection therewith including clearing and grubbing, grading and excavating and other site work for any construction project limited to the lot on which any specific building is located.

Roofing

Construction of all kinds of roofing, waterproofing, and coating, except when coating is not represented to protect, repair, waterproof, stop leaks, or extend the life of the roof.

Sheet Metal

Installation of sheet rolled metal of any kind or combination and all other air-veyor systems and air handling systems, regardless of materials used, including all equipment and all reinforcements in connection therewith.

Siding, Windows and Doors

Installation of siding, window and door installation including vinyl, wood or aluminum siding, soffit, fascia, gutters and all types of windows and doors.

Sign Electrical

Installation any electrical wires, apparatus, raceways, conduit or any part thereof on electrical signs and erection of signs.

Sign (Non-Electrical Installation)

Installation of non-electrical signs according to the building code.

Solar Heater

Erection of any solar hot water heating system of residence or for swimming pools, including collectors, storage and expansion tanks, heat exchanges, piping, valves, pumps, sensors, low voltage controls which connect to existing plumbing and electrical stub-outs.

Structural Steel

Erection of structural steel shapes and plates, including such minor field fabrication as may be necessary, of any profile, perimeter, or cross-section that are or may be used as structural members for buildings and structures, including riveting, welding and rigging, only in connection therewith.

Terrazo

Construction of terrazzo.

Tile and Marble

Installation of setting tile and marble.

Underground Transmission Lines

Construction of underground electrical and communication transmission lines, manholes, splice pits, laying of rigid conduit incidental thereto.

Underground Utilities

Installation of any system of piping, tubing, vessels, containers, pumps, apparatus and appurtenances in connection with such pressure piping used for the circulating, transporting, holding or processing of any vapor, fluid, liquid, semi-liquid or solids, except gas.
