Permits

The following are types of work requiring a permit: The list is not all-inclusive. If you have any questions, please contact the Community Development Department.

  • Above Ground Pools and Spas
  • Alterations, Additions, or Renovations to any Existing Structure
  • Barns
  • Commercial Additions / Renovations
  • Decks, Sheds, Docks, Aluminum Structures
  • Demolition of an Existing Structure
  • Electrical Systems (installation or upgrade)
  • Gas Systems, (Natural or LP – installation or upgrade)
  • HVAC (installation or replacement)
  • In-ground Pools and Spas
  • Irrigation Systems
  • Mobile Home Setup
  • New Commercial Structures
  • New Single Family Residence
  • Pool Enclosures
  • Roof / Re-roof / Roof Over
  • Signs (over 32 sq ft)

Contractor Registration

All persons conducting business in the City of Dunnellon who are not state-certified contractors are required to pay a fee to obtain and maintain a Local Business Tax Receipt (BTR).

Per House Bill 535, the City of Dunnellon Building Department will no longer require contractor registration and related fees for State Certified Contractors only.

  • Permitting will still require:
    • Validation of State license.
    • Proof of Workers' Compensation and Liability insurance.
    • State Issued Workers' Compensation Exemption Certificate (if applicable).
    • Validation that the contractor is working within the scope of his license.
    • Legible copy of current driver's license for identification purposes.
