Oregon Home Energy Performance Score (HEPSC) Contractor License
The Home Energy Performance Score (HEPSC) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:
- Operate a business offering home energy performance scores to residential buildings, by following:
- A home energy performance score system that is approved by the Oregon Department of Energy
How to Get the Home Energy Performance Score (HEPSC) Contractor’s License in Oregon?
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Complete a minimum of 16 hours of pre-license training with one of Oregon’s approved providers
- Take and pass the trade examination with PSI©:
- Sign in or register on PSI©’s examination website
- Pay and schedule the examination
- Refer to PSI©’s Home Energy Performance Score (HEPSC) Exam Candidate Information Bulletin for more information on the test
- Register the business applying for the license. For more information on how to set up a business, refer to Oregon Start a Business Guide
- Fill out and submit a residential surety bond form, meeting CCB’s requirements. The amount of the bond is determined as follows:
- Home Performance Score Contractor: $10,000
- Give proof of liability insurance. The amount of liability insurance needed is determined as follows:
- Home Performance Score Contractor: $100,000 per occurrence
- Get worker’s compensation insurance if planning to hire employees
- Obtain other employer account numbers and state and federal tax numbers from the Oregon’s Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service
- Fill out the form that corresponds to your application type:
- Submit the application, including the original surety bond, the insurance certificate, and the fee for a two-year license to:
