The Sign Construction (Non-Electrical) (GS-23) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

• Fabricate on site
• Install and erect signs of:
  • Wood
  • Steel
  • Plastic
  • Any material or combination of materials, which are to be embedded in the earth, in concrete or other base material, or attached to buildings or structures using anchors, attached cables, bars or similar devices, and appurtenances

Electrified signs shall only be installed by contractors holding an ES-1 Electrical Signs and Outline Lighting or an EE-98 Residential, commercial and industrial electrical wiring 5000 volts, nominal, or less, Contractor License.

How to Get the Sign Construction (Non-Electrical) (GS-23) Contractor License in New Mexico?

1. Meet the experience requirement:
   • At least two years of documented experience in the Sign Construction (Non-Electrical) (GS-23) Contractor field.
2. Apply for eligibility through PSI©.
   • Fill out the Qualifying Party Certificate.
   • Complete the Work Experience Certificate.
3. Send these documents via mail with the corresponding application fee to:

4. Once the documents and the eligibility have been approved, schedule and pay for the examination.

     2. Enter zip code for exam locations.
     3. Choose the corresponding examination and add the social security number.
     4. Pay for and schedule the exam.
   • To apply by mail or fax:
     1. Open and check the General Construction Candidate Information Bulletin.
     2. Fill out the New Mexico Contractor Examination Registration Form.
     3. Pay the fees and send the documents via mail or fax to:

5. Take and pass the following examination:
   • New Mexico Business and Law Examination (PSI©).
6. After passing the examination, complete the Application for Contractor License and the Construction Industries Division Contractor License Code Bond.
7. Gather the following documents and send them by mail to PSI©:
   • Contractor License Form
   • CID Contractor License Code Bond
   • Valid Qualifying Party Certificate
   • Examination Passing Scores.
   • Proof of Financial Responsibility Bond
   • Proof of current New Mexico Tax ID number application with a registration certificate or official stamp.
